Extension of maintenance catwalks serving the AOD2 fume extraction system

Extraordinary maintenance work involving the replacement of a fume extraction duct at the AOD2 plant, within the Acciai Speciali Terni facility.

The existing duct, which runs along a portion of the AOD2 roof structure between grid lines Ic–Ib–Hp and between markers 5 and 6, at elevations from +16.350 to +40.100 m, will be replaced with a new duct whose route deviates from the original one in the inner part of the roof structure.

In order to ensure maintenance access and proper support of the new duct, a series of service platforms and walkways will be installed on the existing beams between grid lines Ic and Ib, at elevations of +13.770 m, +16.350 m, and +22.000 m.
