Title XI of Italian Legislative Decree 81/08 establishes the safety requirements for workplaces where the formation of explosive atmospheres may occur, defined as “a mixture with air, under atmospheric conditions, of flammable substances in the form of gases, vapours, mists, or dusts” (Art. 288).

CISIA S.r.l. carries out the risk assessment process through the following phases:

Assessment of explosion risks and classification of hazardous areas;

Adoption of technical and/or organizational measures to prevent the formation of explosive atmospheres;

Where it is not possible to avoid the formation of explosive atmospheres, adoption of measures to prevent ignition and to mitigate the effects of a possible explosion, in order to safeguard the health and safety of workers;

Periodic review of the technical and organizational measures adopted, and whenever significant changes occur;

Preparation and updating of the Risk Assessment Document.

Classification of work areas according to Directive 99/92/EC

CISIA S.r.l. carries out on-site inspections, surveys, and assessments for its clients aimed at classifying areas where an explosive atmosphere may form due to the presence of gases or combustible dusts.
