Revamping of a high-speed grinding machine – Industry 4.0

High-speed grinder revamping – a machine for grinding billets up to 9 meters in length to remove surface defects. The revamping involved the complete replacement of the plant systems (electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic), fully engineered by CISIA technicians. The machine was equipped with Industry 4.0 features and automatic production tracking systems (Omron FHV sensors for reading codes and labels). CISIA technicians fully developed the machine control software (Level 1) as well as the Level 2 system, consisting of a database for production program management and production data collection.

Revamping for regulatory and functional upgrading of a grinder for slabs and billets: design of a new conveying/transfer table, extraction hood, new loading platform, safety devices and barriers, electrical/automation design, production tracking, software design (Industry 4.0), hydraulic and pneumatic design, and defect detection design (vision inspection).
